VW Beetle

Today I want to share a memory type book I was asked to make by a lady whose son was turning 21 and she just couldn’t find anything that summed him up.

She told me her son was VW beetles and VW campervan crazy and was actually rebuilding one in red, white and blue.

So that was my challenge

I knew I had some papers that were actually free in a Do Crafts magazine some time ago – Portobello Road, it had Union flags, postcards, stripes and of course plain colours red, white and blue.

I folded 2 A4 sheets of card in half and stuck one side to the other card making 3 work spaces on the front and the back.

I started on the front page which I covered with a flag paper, then die cut a mat using red card then a verse on a size smaller die, these were attached to the card using DST.

I used Google to search for VW and after finding suitable images I resized and printed onto matt photo paper, rounded the corners and added under the verse.

I printed out some VW blueprints and used them as backing paper for the inside left and right pages after 1^st inking the card. On the left side I cut out cogs using black card and added them randomly across the page and used some of the waste in the top and bottom corners.

On the right hand side I used some Tim Holtz tickets and  the end result said “Live The Dream, Wish Every Day, Story Of Love And Hope”

And then the centre page I made a collage of different sections of a VW Beetle, stamped Matthew onto white card then used red and blue distress ink to randomly colour the letters, then heat embossed with clear embossing powder and then stuck down the card. I used an MDF circle which I drilled holes in and used as a button, I stamped Happy Birthday on the button, rubbed over with versamark and clear embossing powder, I added some butchers twine and tied it on the top then stuck to the card, 21^st was stuck alongside the button.

On the reverse I made a collage using the blueprint and images, faded it out then stuck to a blue mat and finally onto the card. I stamped VW beetles and words over the paper and cut out a Happy Birthday panel from red, white, blue paper and stuck at the bottom.

The final sheet was another verse which I made long and narrow so it could go to one side of the page, postcard paper was stuck onto the card then a panel of red was stuck to the left side, the image cut out with scallop scissors and stuck over it.

I glittered an MDF star then stamped a VW Beetle onto shrink plastic, coloured it and trimmed before heating it till it shrunk to a perfect size. This was attached to the star then star to the card

Black peel offs were used along the spines with name & date of his birthday

The lady loved the card so much and has since passed my details onto several of her family and friends.

On The Shelf Lady Bus Driver

Good afternoon everyone

The card I have decided to share with you is one I made last year when my good friend retired as bus driver on our village bus.

The kit was by Carole Clark and is one of the on the shelf cards which are great fun and now there is one that’s suitable for nearly every occasion.

I printed the sheets onto matt photo paper and stuck it to 350gsm white card then began cutting out – I hadn’t remembered to have a backing paper for the back but luckily it wasn’t too bad left white

Before printing I had added text stating the bus name, her name and the retirement, on the inner panel I added the dates too.

I used various different gems to decorate the card, for buttons, on the clip board and the sentiments

Not normally one for printing out the envelopes I did this time as I wanted to decorate the envy front...

Elaine the retired bus driver loved the card so what more could I ask for?

Football Mini Book Card

Welcome to my Monday offering – today’s card is a football themed card with the club emblem added for the recipient

This is a kit from Craftsuprint and designed by Sandie Burchell, it is called Football Mini Book Kit and comes with several sheets which are main card, insert, mini book, sentiments and then a 2 part envelope.

My printer at the time I made this wouldn’t take card so I printed onto matt photo paper then stuck it direct to white card and folded, the insert has a verse added prior to the printing.

I cut the mini book page up and made the book following the very easy instructions, then I cut slits on the card front where the book was to go, I stuck the strap onto card and instead of using the paper buckle I used small metal one from my stash

The strap was threaded through the slits and fastened over the front of the book to secure it.

Because the recipient is a Tottenham fan I found the club emblem and shrunk it to fit on the card then cut out Tottenham Hotspur and stuck that on the book and also stuck the e

mblem in the insert too

Using one of the blank sentiment strips I typed in Happy Birthday Daniel and this was then attached to the card under the goal to finish

It’s a quick and easy kit to make and ideal for the footy mad man in your life!!!

Sorry You're Leaving

 Happy New Year to you all – I hope 2017 will bring you all love, friendship, gold health and much happiness

Its been a long long time since I was blogging on a daily basis and that is sad as I love to share my creations with you and reading all your comments, you love to read how I made the card.

So its New Year and New Start and my 1^st card is one I made for my partners work colleague who had found herself another job and I was asked to make a card that reflected Jodie and her personality, and here it is!

The kit was purchased from Craftsuprint but I am not too sure who the designer was, sorry!

 So I cut out all the elements and started with a white 8x8 scalloped card blank , I trimmed a sheet of aqua coloured card to fit leaving a border then the same with a lilac sheet. These were taped to the card blank using DST and then a couple of pieces of metallic lilac ribbon was stuck across the top left and bottom right corners. The main image layer was glued centrally using sticky pads and the 2 further levels were done in the same way. 

The decoupage elements were adding again using the sticky pads, next was the sentiment which I stuck to the top left of the card.

All that was left to do was decorate the front, to do this I added 3 lilac gems in a line at the 4 corners of the aqua card layer, placed tiny pink on the flowers in the background and then a hand tied bow to top right corner, and a few drops of glossy accents were added to the rain splashes and glitter to the wings.

I printed the insert twice, the left side was left so the card could be signed by work colleagues and the verse added to the other side,

And finally on the back of the card I added a naughty sentiment which really did fit Jodie perfectly!!!

I do hope you have liked the 1^st card of 2017, I have so many to share so you may even get a couple in one day!

For those who have forgotten me – I am still here, and really not sure why I stopped blogging as I have still been making cards so have lots to share – will try get back into all again.

Well I want to share this card with you as its really pretty, and part of a mega bundle, click the link to see more

The kits come with main card base, backing paper, pyramage layers and an all in one sheet envelope!

I trimmed the card base and then used stick and stay to glue the sheet to white 300gsm card, and I did the same with the base layer of the pyramage, I also used the backing paper on the back of the pyramage piece as it looks prettier from the back than plain white card.

The card is really easy to do, there are several lines printed so I just scored them all and following M or V folds gives the Upright Diamond Fold card, the folds simply push towards the centre which then forms the diamond shape

I cut out the 4 shaped pyramage pieces and used 1mm pads to build up.

To finish I added 3 pretty yellow gems for the centre of the flowers, tied a bow using lemon satin ribbon and placed it below the flowers, then used an X-Cut butterfly punch to punch 4 lemon and 4 pale blue Bazzill cardstock, I then stuck one lemon and one pale blue back to back using a little cosmic shimmer pva glue.

The 2 lemon facing butterflies were stuck to the card but the blue were just tucked in.

The envelope was cut out and scored then folded on printed lines.

Please note – the gems, ribbon and butterfly punch are my own and do not come with the upright diamond fold card!

Big Sister

Good evening

I can now share a card I made recently for a little girl who is now a big sister after their mummy brought home a new baby boy last week

The sheet was designed by Angela Wake, it didn’t have much scope to add my own touch to the card which is the only downside with a lot of these sheets

I used a 6x6 scalloped card blank and after cutting out the main image it was stuck to the card front with pva glue then set aside for 15 minutes to set 

The decoupage was then cut out and I used tiny sticky pads to build up the 3d effect.

This was an easy card to make as it has 2 large panels and then just a little decoupage so good for anyone hating the cutting out. 

Before I printed out the sheet I used the blank tag to add Big Sister Lexi... and once I had the insert in I wrote it to the 3 year old then put it into its own envelope and was sent with Lexi’s name and address on! 

I’m sorry but there really isn’t a great deal more I can say about the card except I have had a message from the new mum to say the cards arrived safely and Lexi had loved having mail just for her!

Ok then guys – time to crack on as had a day where I haven’t achieved much...but never min

Pretty Pink Shoes

Hello

Got a super duper card for today – in fact I used the same kit and created 2 cards which are very similar to each other

I started with a sheet of white card measuring 16”x8” and used an 8x8 embossing folder to emboss one side of the card, then I scored along the centre, folded and that is my card blank created.

Last week I bought myself a set of Faber-Castell Mix & Match Gelatos and haven’t yet had a chance to play with them, but because I had a fab embossed back ground I used a cotton wool pad which I sprayed with some Avon lemon room spray and set to a side for a moment

I used 3 coloured Gelatos, a pink, lilac and purple, I lightly ran each colour randomly around the edges of the card, then used the cotton wool pads and gently rubbed it all over the embossed part of the card, I loved how it was varying shades of colour – and the card smells yummy too!

I cut out the main image – which by the way the info for the kit – it was designed by Janet Roberts and has 3 sheets to the kit, the main front sheet, the single insert panel and the decoupage elements, and it is all so easy to cut out!

So the main panel was cut out and I used 2 A5 sheets of silver mirri card, one was plain and the other embossed with hearts, so I trimmed them both down and added the piece with hearts to the top half of the panel and the plain silver to the bottom, leaving the famous all round border.

Using double sided tape I stuck my panel to the card sort of to the right and bottom corner.

Using the bow making I created a double bow from some beautiful lilac organza ribbon with a satin edge, I cut the tails into V shapes and stuck the bow to the top left corner with a sticky dot. The heart shaped Birthday Girl sentiment was cut out and placed directly under the bow, I used double sided sticky pads to do that then added a tiny sticky dot on each of the ribbon tails and positioned these around the heart.

The decoupage was cut out and added to the panel with double sided pads.

A few months ago I had a magazine with the free gift being a die – I haven’t given it a 2^nd glance until today when I was going through my dies looking for some pretty flowers for the card

So I cut out the panel 3 times – so it was 3 large, 3 small and 3 leaves in lilac 300gsm card and I used a Tattered Lace leaf die which I cut out of white card. I stuck the 3 larger flowers in the bottom left corner using cosmic shimmer pva to hold them in place, a dot of pva was added to one end of the leaves, both the white and the lilac and then gently pushed under the flowers.

The 3 smaller flowers were placed in the top right corner in the same way and had leaves added too.

To finish my card I added a big blob of pva to the inside of the larger flowers and carefully dropped a 10mm lilac AB gem into it. For the small flowers I had bought a pack of pretty cerise pink aluminium roses from Hong Kong and I though the darker shade made the card.

The insert was trimmed and stuck inside the card using double sided tape.

I made a 2^nd card which is along the same lines but this time I made it a landscape card and changed the position of the flowers as well as changing the amount....

So there we go – my card for today.

I have entered the card into my Card Challenge Competition and will be posting this card out to a young girl who will be 16 next week, suffers from Aspergers Syndrome and her proud mum has asked people to send her cards and make her day extra special – mum said daughter would be lucky to get even 4 cards so was hoping her request might see the daughter receive 16 as that’s how old she will be – that number has been walked all over so now its set at 116 cards, if you want to help and send her a card I have the young ladies postal details
